Randoms because it has been a while <3
Hello friends and happy almost end of the week!
My goodness.
I type these posts first in a monthly file now and I see the last date I wrote was April 4th!
This is too long away from a visit. Nothing is wrong, just busy each morning this week and priorities meant I had to put off tapping out a note to you.
So for today, we have some randoms.
Random #1
Last Saturday we had a little visitor for a good part of the day.
The best part of the day, really.
Although we certainly enjoyed having dinner with her mommy and two of the brothers when they came to pick her up. Dad was with Joel at a soccer event out for the weekend.
We take what we get and we don’t pitch a fit.
All week I have loved seeing these handprints as the morning sun highlights them.
The whole slider needs a good spring cleaning but for now we will just let those lines linger. They are Caroline pointing out the different birds on the feeder or just doing what kids do. Why they feel the need to put their hands on everything I do not know. But I am okay with this smear.
They are a remnant of a sweet memory and so they will remain for just a bit longer <3
Random #2
Speaking of the feeder.
We are on our second full year of using safflower seed and thistle exclusively in our feeders.
Squirrels and grackles are not interested in either of these and so our pretty cardinals, finches of several colors, doves, robins and an assortment of small birds whose names escape me safely dine now without the bullies.
And I will just leave it at this.
Put out the food for the creatures you want to draw in and do not cater to the ones who wreak havoc in your life.
Random #3
People ask me how school is going sometimes.
It remains challenging at times, a lot of work and a good deal of feeling like I have failed.
But this week has been a good week.
First Monday and then Tuesday and then Wednesday.
One day at a time.
Each day I was able to walk in the door and just say, it was a good day.
Russ smiles with relief.
Who could blame him?
He doesn’t have to listen as I process.
We just take a deep breath and thank God for a good day.
Times three.
So that’s how it went this week so far. And the prospects are high we will continue because two of the three classes have state testing today and tomorrow so the odds are high we will be able to say it was a good week.
Again, we get what we get and we don’t pitch a fit <3
Random #4
I was able to take a walk one afternoon this week around our area.
This bridge reminds me of one of the stories from A. A. Milne where the residents of the Hundred Acre Wood play Pooh Sticks.
If you are not familiar with the story, they throw a stick in the water and then run to the other side to see which stick appears first.
It really doesn’t take much to make me smile in my heart, so as I crossed the bridge that day I snapped a photo with the idea to share it with you.
The little moments, the little joys keep us going. Share them with others when you can. We all could use some games of Pooh Sticks in our lives.
Random #5
As I was selecting jewelry this morning, I pulled out this treasure.
I used to wear it daily a few decades ago.
Each charm represents a person or event.
They all tell a story.
I used to wear it when I subbed in the grade schools.
As I would stand out monitoring recess, little ones would come up and ask to look at the charms. They would ask about the ones that interested them and I would tell them the story.
It was so loud, the girls told me they could hear me clapping in the stands during their games.
I can’t believe how heavy it is and yes, loud.
I plan to wear it today.
I hope someone asks me about it…we shall see.
But due to the weight, I will definitely have to remove if someone invites me to a game of Pooh Sticks down by the bridge.
Have a great day.
Even when I am not able to show up, you are on my heart and I appreciate each of you <3
