Knit together <3

Several times in the past week the verse about being knit together has come up in my readings or a message on the radio.

I get to do a more knitting these latter years than I had time for in my younger days and as I work on a Christmas project, I was particularly struck by this familiar passage from Psalm 139.

In this Psalm, King David writes about the intimate ways that God knows each of us. In verse 13, he says that God knit him together in his mother’s womb.

I picture the process of the growth of an embryo as I wind the yarn around the needles again and again. I am actively involved in each stitch and the finished product is always a labor of love.

The feel of the yarn, the following of the pattern, both hands involved in the movement that creates a blanket, sock or sweater…this is knitting. I spend a lot of time with something before it is finished.

And I think of God and how lovingly and perfectly He knit each of us together to be born into this world.

Unlike God, I make mistakes. I had to take out three rows recently because I was distracted and missed some knits that should have been purls.

God didn’t miss a stitch with any of us. We may not understand why we are the way we are, but He made no misstep in His pattern.

Each of us is fearfully, lovingly made by a Father who is so very good to call us His own.

Blessings friends <3

You are dearly loved and perfectly made.
