Wednesday Randoms <3
Happy Wednesday!
Here are some mid-week randoms….in no particular order.
Random #1
Sleep is elusive at all ages and stages. Our grandchildren have trouble falling asleep, young parents don’t get enough between staying up late and rising early, aging takes a toll on slumber.
Thus we are always on a quest for better sleep. The right mattress, pillow, bedding. Articles and advertisements galore exist to inform us on what we need for the perfect night’s rest.
And then I will tour a home of some famous past president or inventor. I look at anything from a sack filled with corn husks resting on ropes to a flat mattress sans box springs or gel foam with inner springs and marvel.
I think of all they accomplished in a day.
Did Abe complain of back pain and neck stiffness every day?
Did Henry Ford wander to the kitchen for an afternoon coffee to stay awake so he could invent all manner of vehicles?
Were they sturdier than we?
I have seen their living furniture and am sure they didn’t take many naps on those things. So maybe they were just so bone tired from wearing wool suits and multiple layers of dresses in the heat of summer that they could have slept on the floor.
However they did it, it does make me want to buck up as I have it pretty good.
Random #2
Russ got the idea to pick up the Family Feast from La Gondola for the kiddos last night. Caroline and I picked it up on the way home from dance.
Joel was ecstatic. He loves their spaghetti. He loves any spaghetti.
As I was unpacking things, Joel was digging through the cupboards to find a big bowl. He said mom said to get one. It all came back to me.
For those who don’t live around here, La Gondola Family Feast has a 16” torpedo sandwich, 16” garlic bread, 16” plain bread and a half gallon plastic tub of spaghetti. They put the sauce in first and then top with noodles.
The container appears too small, but for all of us who understand…you turn it upside down into a bigger than you think you need bowl and voila! It grows into more spaghetti than you ever dreamed you had toted home.
As I turned that bowl upside down, I flashed back the nights like this rainy, busy one when we took advantage of the weekly special and splurged on a sure to please every dinner.
So fun to do it again on round two.

These curls.
They are always hiding behind the usually straight blonde strands.
I put her hair up for dance and as we were leaving in the damp evening air, they surprised me.
And yes, her bun is crooked on her head. I blame my mother for this. She never could get my pigtails or pony even. Genetic wonkiness at work.
I wish she could have met this little blonde and her brothers. She would have gotten the biggest kick out of them.
Oh well….someday.
Random #4
I have managed to keep my monthly goal journal going.
This is the October page. I used a photo of someone else’s art work to craft this so while I did draw it, I didn’t create the artwork shapes. I drew by sight and placed in similar fashion…but I did add my own little squiggle lines so there’s that.
I do struggle with copying other people’s ideas, but I don’t know how to come up with ideas for doodles and such so I borrow. It is important to give credit so I got this one from sunflowerchilddesigns.com.
As the year winds to a close, I am thankful for the idea to set goals each month for our house, my health, hobbies and study.
I can’t say I had 100% fulfillment in a single month, but I did more than I would have and yes, I will continue next year.
Do you have a way to set and meet some goals?
Random #5
I find hearts everywhere.
This one was by my parking meter as I plugged quarters in this morning.
I think I find them because I love them and God delights in making them show up in the coolest ways and places.
I am not the only one who does this.
There are others out there who look for hearts.
We are kindred spirits and it is always fun to run into one who appreciates the way they appear so randomly.
What do you look for?
We are taking a little fall break the next few days. Check back on Monday and I will share about it.
Have a great week and weekend.
You are loved <3
