Happy Valentine’s Eve <3
We have heard from several different people that they cannot believe tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. We are the same. This year has flown by and not in a good way, necessarily.
So many illnesses have made for long weeks that made us lose track of time. As a real head’s up….next Wednesday begins Lent!!!
Our little ones had Valentine’s parties at school yesterday. They came home with all kinds of cute cards and gadgets. I saw a meme on Instagram of a mom suggesting the way to organize the treasures from their party is to slide into the trash.
This mom and I would never be good friends and I definitely will not be following her for advice.
Caroline showed me her 67 Valentine sticker, a heart shaped gem and a 3d printed 67 fellow with dangling legs. So many times in the short time I was with her, she showed me.
I acted like it was the first time, every time.
The years are waning for these last grands to have Valentine parties at school. I want to soak in every gummy heart and cupcake story.
I remember our little Sarah one year taking Valentines to everyone even though, for some reason, the school had settled a no-holiday policy that year.
There had been no Halloween, no Christmas and then no Valentines. She had had enough.
She fixed her Valentines and asked the teacher if she could just hand them out. She even had one for the administrator who had established the new policy that year.
Her teacher asked her why she had done this when there was no party or celebration of the day. She told her because it was kind.
The teacher let her pass out her cards.
I love that she tenaciously held on to kindness.
I hope we all will.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
You are dearly loved.
PS….I had a couple of comments from friends about outfits that are a magnet for spills…you all made my day! Thank you <3
