Shout out for a new small business <3

I love to promote small businesses and we visited a new one in downtown Bloomington yesterday.

It is located on the square where they hold the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays so I thought I would post about it in case any of you local people are looking for a nice way to spend a Saturday morning.

Their Farmer’s Market circles (or to be geometrically correct…squares) around the old courthouse. We have reports that it is even better than in past years with lots of booths with produce, meat, crafts, flowers and baked products. There is usually some kind of live music and it’s just a fun morning for everyone.

The shoppe I want to share about is called “Main Trade” and is a combination of antiques, vintage items, art and small booths for individual sellers. It is really not like anything I have been to around here and we loved it.

The main floor has all kinds of vintage furniture, glassware, home decor and fun pieces for anyone who likes to decorate in that style. Everything was so clean and smelled so good in the store. There were unique new items around the counter as well.

Things are displayed in a way that makes sense and not junked together so that you can’t take it all in. For example, if you were looking for chairs they are all on shelving along the wall so you can see each piece clearly. There are books and old vinyls as well.

We checked out the basement and I was delighted that stairs down featured art work and nice displays of vintage plates hanging. The booths in the lower level are nicely spaced and clearly marked. Artists have their own rooms to hang their gallery and new merchandise is set out in clever ways in the other booths. There are several areas with quality vintage clothing as well.

We had a great visit and will return soon.

If you love Farmer’s Markets and poking around in shoppes that feature nostalgia, pencil in a Saturday to head to downtown Bloomington!

Or…you can visit the shoppe throughout the week. Their hours are listed on Facebook under “Main Trade”….follow them on social media for the fun of it.

And remember…your word of mouth in person or on your social media is golden to a small business <3
