A prayer refresher <3

Hello and happy Friday!

I just have a quick thought to share with you all today.

Recently I learned a new way to pray Scripture at the Moms In Touch prayer group led by a young friend at her children’s school. I have been around faith long enough that I know we are to pray the Scriptures, but this new method breathed some life into me because of its simplicity.

Basically you have a Scripture and you either just read it or, if it is worded in a way that you can, insert the name of someone you are praying for into the passage. Then you turn that around and write out a prayer based on the Scripture – a short sentence or two breaking it down into prayer form.

If you are not used to writing out prayers, there are so many examples in prayer books and online. Just borrow them for a good prayer format and I promise you, you will be scripting prayers yourself after a while.

Once again you insert the name of the one you are praying for into the prayer. Then repeat with another person you are praying for starting with the Scripture and then the prayer.

In the case of Moms In Touch and for me in the morning, I just go through our family.

Often some little tangent prayers come to mind based on the individual and known needs that day and they easily slide into the prayer.

Here is an example for you that I am just making up as I go:

And this hope will not lead to disappointment.

For we know how dearly God loves us, because

he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

Romans 5:5 NLT

God, thank you for the hope we have in Christ that will never let us down. Thank you for your great love for us and for giving us your Holy Spirit. Pour your love more and more into our hearts so that we will be filled with your love and we will pour it out onto others.

Okay, now you go back through that with a person in mind. And for this example I will use my husband so you can see his name plugged in.

And this hope will not lead Russ to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves Russ, because He has given Russ the Holy Spirit to fill his hearts with His love.

God, thank you for the hope Russ has in Christ that will never let him down. Thank you for your great love for Russ and for giving Russ your Holy Spirit. Pour your love more and more into Russ’s heart so that He will be filled with your love and will pour it out on others.

So there is the basic format and I take no credit for it. I have found the method to be enriching my prayer time and I hope that you will try it.

Blessings friends.
