Christmas Countdown 2013 <3 Day 21
Today is the first round of Christmas celebrations. We are breaking them down into celebrating with whoever is here and making the most of those moments together. Good thing Santa is flexible and was able to come and fill a few stockings for this first run.
In an hour, the house will be alive with four adult children, two grandchildren and these cute critters from St Louis
Needless to say, I will not have a coherent thought as I try and savor every single moment as it rockets by.
But in the quiet of the morning, with coffee in hand and a heart open to hear from God; I am marveling at the story of Mary’s visit to Elizabeth.
In a day when we can update the entire world in seconds of our current status, Mary ran by foot to deliver some startling news to her cousin Elizabeth. The Holy Spirit doesn’t need twitter or facebook or a talking head on some news station to get the word out. In Luke 1: 39-56 we are told that as Mary arrived at the home of Elizabeth and called out to her, the Holy Spirit filled Elizabeth, the baby she was miraculously carrying leaped and she knew that Mary was bearing the Messiah.
What an affirmation that must have been to this young girl! After the angel left, you know she had to have been questioning if what she had seen was real or a dream. Was she going crazy? Had she made all that up?
Oh dear friends, He is REAL. What He has said to you in your heart, He will do! He came as a baby, He left as our Savior, He will return as King of Kings and Lord of Lords! He is the One True God! His Spirit fills us now and reminds us of the things He taught. He is our Comforter, Corrector, Redeemer, Savior, Friend, Lord, Brother, Guide, Hope, Light, Truth….on and on and on. The Alpha and Omega. The Ancient of Days!
