Friday Randoms…<3
It has been a week.
Not a bad one, just very full.
So here are some randoms to end it and to let you know I have thought of you often <3
Random #1
On the way to work I had to stop at the intersection where the YWCA used to be. Our girls took dance, swimming and gymnastics there. It’s gone now.
I always shudder at this stop light because our John got t-boned in that intersection by a guy who blew through a fully red light. There were witnesses and the guy got a ticket and still the insurance companies fought tooth and nail to not make it right for John.
He was bringing me a sweet tea from McDonald’s after church.
I had to work that Sunday at Talbots and he knows I love sweet tea and church and so he was bringing it to surprise me.
The sweet tea flew into all the parts of his car and he still struggles from the body damage to his neck.
And it never has seemed fair to me.
I am so thankful he wasn’t injured worse and I am thankful that his spirit healed and he has made great strides over the years with his body.
I am also deeply thankful that God lets us ask, ask and ask again why bad things happen when we are trying to do good things for others.
And while I have never gotten an answer, I know He is good and kind and we can trust Him, even in what we can’t understand.
Random #2
Along those lines, some friends were telling us about how their neighbors have had bats invade their attic.
I guess it is quite a process to get rid of them. A lot of steps and if they find babies among the inhabitants, they have to wait until those are grown and flown. Seems they are protected here in our state.
And we marveled that humans are not, but bats are.

My friend is on her way to an adventure with her daughter today.
They have a lovely trip planned overseas.
Since they decided not to check bags, she has had to think through scaling down her packing. Then there are all the loose ends that need tying up and to do’s to be done.
They also have to change planes several times. The flights will cover 30 hours of travel time and when they land they will hit the ground running to stay ahead of the jet lag.
I asked her if she was excited and she said she was excited about being there, but not about getting there.
And it spoke to me.
I kind of feel that way about heaven.
I am excited to be there, but sometimes the getting there involves some gnarly parts of life, health, aging, trauma….think about it.
Random #4
This guy is my store companion on Fridays now.
He cracks me up.
He has a mind of his own and while I am fully a “dog person”…this feline has me wrapped around his clawless paw.
Random #5
Yesterday when we picked up the kids, Caroline was in meltdown mode.
She had a major come-apart over the fan for the air conditioner being on seven instead of six.
Tears fell without stopping as she declared they never put it on the number she wants.
When we got home, I wrapped her in my arms and held her. We read some stories and had a snack.
She had some baggage from the day and she needed a safe place to just rest and not talk about anything.
So remember today if you run into someone who seems to be getting super worked up over something that seems kind of silly that maybe they just need a hug, some mini-muffins and a drink of water, a book to read and the reassurance that they are dearly loved.
