Hello there…remember me? <3

Hey friends! It has been a busy week. A good one, but a busy one!

The weather has decided to act like it’s actually October and we have had some cooler nights and crisp days. The winds that seem to love to whip across the Prairie and stir up lots of grain dust are in high gear and we even had some blessed rain on Sunday night.

I had to move plants up on the porch tonight as the temps may dip low in the next few days. The lime tree may need a blanket soon or we may have to tuck it into the garage at night for a few more days so it can enjoy the warm sun as long as possible.

Last night in the wee hours, I woke as I often do, and was running various things through my mind. For some reason, I realized that I quit writing in a morning journal at some point in the past year.

I don’t know when exactly and it won’t be hard to track it down as I have all the journals in boxes in my “office”. But I just seem to have stopped entering words and thoughts in a journal at some point and this morning I pulled out a fresh (albeit recycled) notebook and got back to my roots.

It felt good to make an entry and share the things that are on my heart. It seemed like a part of me came out of dormancy as I jotted down the date, what was on my mind, what my devotions spoke to me and recorded the passage for today’s Bible reading.

I even stowed my books and notebook in a real bag, like the old days, so I can tote it over to the table in the morning. I am looking forward to a cup of coffee, pulling out the materials and resuming my habit.

Where I got off track, I am not sure. I will have to go on a hunt this weekend for the last journal page I jotted down and see if retracing my steps will help me remember what caused me to stop a decades long discipline.

But for now, it feels good to be back. Like a record stuck in a glitch that keeps playing the same fragment, I feel we have skipped back to the tune and I am so very happy in my soul.

Have a blessed day.

And if you are out of a good habit, I hope you find your way back today or soon.

It is the best place to be <3
