Late addition to the book review…=0)

I completely forgot I actually did finish one more book in 2025. It was the daily devotional I used that was gifted to me from my friend Lisa for Christmas last year.

I forgot to report on it because it was so good, I have passed it along to Russ to read for his daily quiet time this coming year.

This is definitely a set of writings that speaks to both genders and I found myself journaling thoughts or earmarking pages so that I could return and capture what I had learned when I had more time.

The writings were scripturally sound and spot on for me so many weeks. There seemed to be a flow to them that I would say seemed “series minded”. Although it is not marked out into themes, the entries some days built on the previous day so that the concepts were fully developed.

Sprinkled with plenty of Scripture, I was able to use extra time on some mornings to go to the passages mentioned and read those as well.

The week between Christmas and New Years this year gave me some open spaces to journal the last of the pages I had marked but not returned to.

I journaled the highlights of those in my daily goals notebook and so I will share a couple so you can get an idea of the nuggets gleaned from Warren’s book.

From June 29th: Sin is always unloving. As sin increases, love decreases. Sin is unhelpful, unfair, unhealthy, unwise, untruthful – and it is always selfish. At the root of every sin is self-centeredness.

And..

September 21st: In order to have meaningful conversations with other people, you need to plan and pray what you will say and discuss.

And….

October 18th: Being content is a leaning process:

* When I envy others, I really want them to fail so I can feel better about myself

* Envy is fed by imagination

* Envy happens when I am not grateful for what I have

That’s just a snapshot of wisdom I gleaned.

I do recommend this devotional for yourself or to gift. It is suitable for all ages and stages and is a good place to grow in the year.
