Well here we are at Thursday.

People ask me how many days of school we have left and I respond with my countdown itinerary of what I hope to get done. Russ patiently waits beside me and then gives them the actual number.

It’s all in perspective.

I view it as the number of lessons I have left to attempt to teach. Others look at it as the actual time slots.

My true heart answer is: too many and not enough.

So with that being said – here are the randoms for this week:

As the season changes and temperatures mandate a shift into summer clothes, I am once again scanning Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration on how to dress.

Often I will pin an idea and then look at and realize, I actually have that outfit.

It’s just that on a size 6, 40 something who seems to have been in the sun a bit or used a nice tanning gel, it looks a whole lot more pulled together and appealing.

Sigh.

Speaking of clothing.

I have seen a few photos from the Met Gala and it occurs to me I do not have any idea what the Met Gala is or why it exists.

And I am okay with that.

100% totally okay with not understanding.

So I can check that off my list of things to learn and move along.

In the arena of teaching it has become abundantly clear that I cannot teach young people to care about learning.

This has been the hardest part of the whole experience.

God bless teachers who keep trying.

You are a gift and do not receive enough recognition and pay for what you do.

We are sad culture that pays millions to college kids to play a sport and keep our educators on the lowest of pay scales.

I have been trying to do better at first thing exercise in the mornings.

When I head downstairs to work out, I use the lights in the entry way instead of the ones on the stairwell. There is reason…they have been hanging there since the house was built over a decade ago and look like they would be very hard to change if the bulbs burn out.

Descending is difficult as the light is behind me and it is dark near the bottom. Please. No safety lectures. I am very careful.

However; when I am finished, it is a piece of cake to ascend the stairs as the light up ahead makes the climb easy.

If you can’t figure out the analogy on that one, you haven’t been reading my things for very long <3

One day this week I drove past a pasture on my way to our family up north.

It is one I have passed many times on this same well-worn patch of road. A sloping hill with a creek running along the bottom edge, a perfectly aged tree that has weathered many a prairie wind and sometimes the added bonus of the farmers cows either grazing or resting under the shade.

That day it was a full panorama of the best of Midwest pasture and the cows and their babes were the centerpiece as they lay about under the sunny blue sky.

It made me think of something that never fails to make me laugh.

A friend once shared about a comment made by a young one in the family once that all still quoted from time to time.

This little child was watching the farm scenery pass by and seeing horses for the first time called out, “Look at the fancy cows!!!”

I hope you, like me, remember that one from time as you drive across the landscape and get a chuckle as do I.

Blessings friends.

The weekend is just a whisper away.

Hang on and smile <3
