Friday and I haven’t had any randoms this week, so here we go….

I rode my bike this morning and I can’t believe how much I love doing that.

Riding a bicycle makes me feel like a kid again and there are not many things that do that for me so yay.

It goes much faster than walking and yet slower than driving so I get to see lots of houses and how they did their flowers and it is good to feel the wind in my face.

That’s all for that one, but I have a second bike related random.

I do wear a helmet even though as a child I would have fought that to the death.

My dad once put a bike flag on my three speed with a banana seat and I thought I would die of social embarrassment. I didn’t, but since it did have a fold down option, I definitely slapped that thing down whenever I had the chance.

This thought came to me as I was riding out of the neighborhood. I have never needed the helmet up to this point. I would love to not have to wear it and based on experience, I don’t need it.

However, I wear it for the one time I might.

Something to think about in other areas.

Caroline has a couple of things she says that make me laugh.

When I was telling her about the shoppe cat, Sam, smacking me on the back of the leg when I didn’t give him extra food one day, she said he was being cheeky.

She also refers to things as “this bit”.

For example when filling out a paper, she will ask what she should do “on this bit here.”

I realized the other day that she probably got both of these expressions from watching Bluey.

I thought it was adorable even before I realized where she was getting it.

If she ever asks for a cuppa in the afternoon, we will know for sure that she is part blue heeler.

Another event that is making me quite happy was a recent post on Instagram about “Messy Girl Aesthetics”.

Finally.

A design trend I can fully support.

I have a storage space and several book shelves full of options to meet the requirements and I can’t wait to get started embracing more of this.

Random #5

That being said, I have been working on doing some cleaning out and purging.

You all know, if you read my book review last month, that I read The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning. It did inspire me to make a list of long-neglected cabinets and spaces that it wouldn’t hurt to empty, sort and decide what I really could part with.

So far I have done our bathroom cabinets and the laundry room.

And you know what?

It wasn’t painful and it feels good to have those spaces less cluttered.

I will report back with progress. I hope.

And yes, you can still have Messy Girl Aesthetics while purging the unnecessary accumulation of junk.

Have a great weekend!
