Some randoms of the mind and family kind <3
Well, here we are at Friday again.
The weeks of this year have flown by faster than any in my whole life. I do my best to savor each moment but truly they are passing at the speed of light and I do not know how to make it slow down.
So to wrap up the week, here are five randoms from our life as we head into the weekend.
Random #1
On Fridays I work at the gift shoppe in our downtown that has been such fun for a dozen years now? Not sure how many…again…speed of light. I will check with Russ, he is a better time keeper of details.
I have to pay for parking, which means I am always digging for change in my wallet and under the seat and in the cupholders. I keep a little coin purse specifically for this, but sometimes it is mostly pennies.
The meter does not take pennies, which made me think this morning that you can have the right amount of something needed, but if it isn’t in the correct currency for the situation…it’s useless.
Kind of like our gifts and talents.
We may have the basics needed for something that needs to be done, but it may not be in the right form for that particular job.
So…rather than trying to squeeze into where you don’t belong at that time and place…let someone else fill the role and move along to where you belong.
Random #2
Graham decided to add Cross Country to his list of sports this year.
As a dual athlete, he has had several weeks where he was either playing soccer or running around some kind of three mile stretch of what we loosely call a “track” multiple times a week.
I will border on bragging, but dang it…that kid has done so well for a first time runner.
We are so proud of him.
He and his siblings also may be the reason time is flying as we shuttle them around and cheer them on.
And if a clock that spins like a ceiling fan is the price of joy, we will pay it.
Random #3
Next week is Homecoming week for the kiddos.
Being in a preschool through high school setting has its perks and we love seeing Caroline and Joel as excited (maybe more excited) about the week’s festivities as the older boys.
Like most schools, they have assigned themes for each day. One day is dinosaur day, another is teacher/student swap and so on. Caroline has taken it to a whole new level.
I am having a blast watching this creative mind cook up her outfits.
The photo above was from a session of trying on hats from Papi’s collection to assist her in designing one of her outfits.
So fun to see those eyes sparkle.
Random #4
Since I am reporting in on two, I will finish with the middle goobers.
Emmett is enjoying soccer now that he doesn’t have to split his time with baseball. But to keep us on our toes, he does play for school and club.
Like Graham, we see him more in passing these days and have to squeeze in a hug on the fly.
Rachel and Zach are considering a Go-Fund-Me for their grocery bill with these kids burning calories faster than they can fill the shelves with food.
Random #5
Joel is also playing soccer for a local club and loving it. He loves anything that involves friends, running, a ball and sweat.
I helped him with post-bath drying and dressing last night and as I threw a towel over his head and he moved towards me, the top of his head is definitely past my chin and just under my nose.
I looked over the top of that sweet boy’s head that still comes in for tight hugs and gave a desperate smile Rachel’s way.
Our eyes met and she confirmed he’s going to pass me soon. We shoved back tears and carried on.
Time.
You are indeed a thief.
Have a blessed weekend.
You are so dearly loved <3
