So on the way to Florida, one of us found some kind of article that debunked the 10,000 steps a day rule.

Turns out the guy who came up with that didn’t base it on any kind of science.

He was developing a fitness App and this was a nice round number so he used it.

And it took off and gained speed and we all drank the Kool-aid.

Now there is testing that has been done on benefits and steps and such and the conclusive evidence is that really 7,000 steps is sufficient. After that there are no additional benefits to health.

Or….

Someone else has developed a new App and liked 7,000 better than 10,000.

Whatever.

I like seeing the bars on my Health tracker hovering around 10,000 and I am not changing on some new whim.

But if I only get 7,000; I will comfort myself with the updated knowledge base.

Also on the road to Florida, we encountered multiple opportunities to slow waaaaaay down and enjoy the scenery.

Between traffic accidents, pulled over vehicles and road construction there were many times when all lanes came to a stop and we inched along for miles.

Despite the fact that no one knew what had happened up ahead, cars would randomly change lanes if it appeared the new one was moving faster.

Then they would be stuck and their former buddies would pass them by.

Then there were the ones who would pull way over in the shoulder to try and get a peep ahead. As if they could get some insight into the future by peering up along the line of cars ahead that disappeared around the next curve.

So much like life.

We have no idea why there is a delay so we switch lanes and try to get ahead.

We don’t wait well.

Patience is indeed a virtue.

This may sound very dated, but card catalogs and phone books and hymnals never went down.

They were always there, always reliable and did their job without so much as a moment’s reboot.

Just sayin.

On Monday I got our whole house clean and it made my heart so happy.

After it was done.

I do not particularly care for cleaning, but it is a necessary evil.

I love the results and understand the need, so I do it.

In an effort to overcome my lack of motivation, I started out saying in my head, “ I love dusting. I am enjoying this.”

Then I started saying that out loud.

Russ was working at his desk and I would just call as I was passing by how much fun I was having dusting and such.

And it worked.

I actually kind of talked myself into liking what I was doing.

It may not work next time but I am sure willing to give it a try. I do know I am not dreading it like I usually do so maybe I am on to something.

I don’t have a number 5.

I am between helping at church and helping a friend and it’s time to wrap this up.

So I hope you have a great Wednesday and I will check in with you tomorrow <3
