Wrapping up our week of remembering <3

As we wrap up this week of commemorating God’s faithfulness, a final reminder was dropped, quite literally, in my lap yesterday.

Storms with possibly heavy rains were forecasted across our area yesterday. We had plans to go watch Emmett play his first game of the season if the fields weren’t too wet.

 How naive we were.

Our skies had clouded up a bit when we got a message from our son-in-law who was home with the kids that it was raining there. The next message was from Rachel and said, “The roof blew off our building.”

I thought she was joking or something big had happened in the office filled with women and one male doctor. She works in OB/GYN so he is a lone ranger for sure.

No.

She wasn’t joking or speaking figuratively as photos began coming through showing the roof of their building scattered over the parking lot of cars.

This was the worst, and hers was four cars away.

Around her car were others with broken windows and windshields. Small bits of shrapnel from the roofing anchors along with a sea of roofing, insulation and who knows what were strewn around, on and under vehicles.

Hers appeared okay, at least no broken windows.

Inside one of the cars buried under that mess was a mom and toddler. They are okay too.

But can you imagine.

Can you imagine them crouched in that car as all hell broke loose?

And haven’t we been there emotionally, mentally and yes, sometimes physically when the wrath of nature, the devil, some human error, some institution gone awry has left us scared and vulnerable, perhaps holding someone we love and helpless to do a thing but hold on?

Those are the places I have seen God unfurl His faithfulness as I trembled and waited for it to end.

As I said one day this week, sometimes it is in looking back. Sometimes it is by rehearsing that I know He is there with me, and sometimes I can sense Him right in the midst of the mess…but I can attest…after weathering storms, after enjoying the best of seasons, after waiting out the doldrums or trying to find my way back home…for 68 plus years of the journey…He is faithful.

Blessings to you, friends.

I pray that you have been reminded of the ways He has provided, protected, comforted, held and guided you this week.

If you would say you have not known Him, I pray for your eyes to be opened this morning to see yourself, hovering under the winds of a wild storm and recognize the arms that held you safe.

You are so deeply and dearly loved.
