Holiday week randoms <3
Randoms for a week that feels like one long holiday.
Random #1
John came home over the weekend for an early birthday celebration.
Per usual, he invited some friends who are still around town from various seasons of his life. Some were his age, some ours.
He set up a 4:00 softball game which a few brave souls attended. We all maxed out from the heat and lack of air movement around 5 and headed to the house.
I decided to simplify things and forego the traditional hot dog/brat/hamburder menu. We did a taco bar instead. I heard no complaints and we were praying loaves and fishes near the end, but I think everyone got their fill.
On Sunday we went up northwards since Graham and Zach had to miss the party for an end of season tournament game.
We had Mexican again after watching a couple of the nephews play ball and one ump.
Because as Joel will tell you, you can never have enough chips and salsa.
Random #2
One of John’s friends is headed to Paris today and it has me dreaming about les pâtisseries et les boulangeries we visited in France.
In chatting with a friend we were laughing about how we had a few less than stellar encounters involving ordering these delicious items.
Apparently she learned the hard way that you do not put butter on a croissant and I discovered that the shop workers did not appreciate my attempts to order items in French.
There was not enough emotional damage from either experience to sway us from longing to return and have some more of everything.

Bless our eldest child’s heart.
She has been busy updating iCalendars for fall sports.
We are going to be busy.
Very, very busy.
Random #4
I did not get a book completely read for June.
It’s not that I didn’t try.
I am almost finished with two and plan to add to it at least one for July if that counts.
Random #5
I think the Fourth of July should always fall on a Friday. I realize that probably won’t work logistically, but I am advocating for it.
I also think Christmas Eve should fall on a Thursday every year and while we are at it line New Years up the same.
The end.
