My favorite guest post writer!!!

I would normally have a book review for you this week, however….I didn’t finish enough of the book I am reading to comfortably share.

But boy, do I have a better than book review treat for you <3

Russ sent me this and so I am sharing his thoughts from an uncomfortable episode with a tooth. You will glean much. Enjoy…

From the desk of Russ Reimer we have…

I recently had to visit the endodontist (root canal person) for treatment of a cracked filling and infected tooth. It started last July and after two rounds of penicillin, I realized it was time for me to get the tooth checked out and hopefully treated.

Well, the results were that the tooth was likely infected for more than a year and that a root canal was the best option.

So I had it done this past week.

Not pleasant, but this should give me some relief from the pain of an infected tooth for several years to come. The endodontist that performed the procedure was very pleasant and efficient with his skill.

I marvel at the talent level of these individuals and am grateful for what they to do help those in need.

As you know, there is not much you can do or say when your mouth is left gaping open and someone has their hands inside it. I elected to focus on a ceiling tile that I could see and pray for my procedure to be successful.

When he was done, he conversed with me and told me that my tooth was full of infection which had been in there for some time. I thought how ironic this was that I was given a second chance to avoid the pain of a filling that was likely over 50 years old which had decayed and was now giving me problems.

Sounds like life to me.

Past sins (if not dealt with) can create a huge void in our lives and cause pain and suffering that is beyond description.   I thought about a recent bible study that I was part of called “Rooted”.

We would meet weekly and discuss life related topics along with scripture that helped me to keep myself grounded in God’s plan for my life. I thought about people in my life that have helped me along the way to make better choices than what I had done on my own. I thought about my family and I prayed for them to not have this pain in their lives and the choices that they make.

My mouth was quite sore for a period of time, but I believe it will be better soon.

Numbing agents can help for a while but eventually one must deal with the ‘root” cause.

I would encourage you all to make good choices and work to repair the past situations that cause pain and discomfort. I am grateful for skilled professionals and for a redemptive God who allows us to heal from our mistakes.

God bless you in your daily walk.

<3 As a personal note, I will add that we both had a good experience with our Rooted group at First Christian Church. While it is a time commitment for a season, the benefits are so good. Whether you are new to faith or have walked with Jesus for many years, it is always good to revisit the roots of your faith and exercise the disciplines with a small group. If you have a chance to participate in the next offering of Rooted at your local church, it is a five star recommendation from us.
