A retraction is in order….because my better half keeps me on my toes <3
When last we met I told you we would most likely celebrate our anniversary in our yard chairs.
That did not happen.
On Thursday and Friday night we had a house guest who was such a delight we threatened to keep him but his family insisted he had to return to them Saturday morning.
We tried to bribe him with all his favorites, but alas he did indeed leave us.
But true to his nature, he left us with a bucket full of sweet memories of his time here.
After breakfast, Russ surprised me with a “sapphire” anniversary gift…
He knows I love blue pottery and so he schemed with our friend Lisa and visited this place a few towns away..
I couldn’t have been more surprised or delighted with his shopping. The selections he did on his own…
I love every piece and especially was touched to see one of my favorite flowers, pansies, adorning the plate. He said he got all things that can be used practically.
He knows me well.
Beautiful and functional are my favorite combo.
After the gift giving and breakfast, Joel’s dad came to pick him up and we did some yard work, cleaned the house and got our steps in. We were still torn between heading up for his game that evening or accepting our friends’ invitation to dinner here in town.
We have celebrated many anniversaries with these two and decided we needed to have another. Between us last week we celebrated 87 years of wedded bliss so we decided to change our plans and hang around here.
They were going to the Hibachi grill so we met up with them and had the nicest meal. We shared a table with a sweet couple and their three daughters.
The highlight of the whole event was our chef getting his buddy and serenading us with “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran.
They sing as well as they cook, which is incredibly well, and totally nailed the song.
It was a great day of celebration and I am sorry to have misled you that we would be at the ballpark, but I can assure you we will more than make up for that this week <3
