Friday Randoms <3
We are enjoying a respite from heat and humidity this week. Even Emmett, aged 13, commented about the nice breeze yesterday while we waited for our lunch order to be called.
You know you have a true blue midwestern teen on your hands when they appreciate not dripping with sweat just standing and holding the cardboard number at Krekel’s….
So to celebrate this oasis on the weather chart, here are some randoms to end the week:
Random #1
Zach’s parents were having an overnight for the age mate cousins of Joel. Graham is still in Ecuador so Rachel asked if we wanted to have the blondes overnight Wednesday and save an early departure from home on Thursday to head up there for the day.
We were all in for that idea.
Our church was having a friends and family night at the local putt-putt and ropes course so of course we went there. The cousins were also there so we got to wave to them and had a grand time scaring Lola to death at dizzying heights and eating ice cream.
We shut down the event at the putt-putt course where all but one got a hole in one.
Random #2
I saw a friend post a picture of water lilies and she said they were at the park next to our zoo. I looked up the website and saw that Thursday is free admission day so we decided to head back over to the lake area after breakfast and visit the zoo.
Back in the day, the Reimers were at the zoo A LOT. It was fun to see it all spruced up with new exhibits that even included a puma!! We took it all in and even scouted out the water lilies and koi in the Oriental Garden.
It was fun to see it all with these two monkeys.
Random #3
We had decided to stop at Krekel’s for a burger and shake. They have only been to the fancy new one up by us. We wanted them to experience where it all began.
If you are local, you know the goodness. If you are not local…if you are ever passing nearby our area, plan a stop. It’s epic.
Also don’t come on Sunday.
Krekel’s was closing on Sundays before Chic-fila was even a chick waiting to be hatched.
Random #4
While we have plenty of warm, hot, humid, grossness ahead of us around here…the clock is ticking on summer fun.
The school supplies are already being gathered for our four and I am torn as always.
Part of me is shaking my head asking where summer went, again.
And part of me is loving seeing all the pencils, notebooks, locker bling…all of it. I loved school as a kid. I loved school supplies in particular and just the whole structured, book-filled jam of it.
But raising kids and watching grand kids be raised has made the tick-tock of time a little louder. Each year is going to bring us one step closer to… I can’t say it.
On to …
Random #5
We have seen snippets of our boy in Ecuador and every photo makes our hearts sing. He showed us evidence of waterfalls he is seeing yesterday so we sent one back.
His smile is full of life and we can’t wait to see him soon and hear whatever he is willing to share.
Hopefully it will be more than “Ya” and “Good” when we ask questions.
Should have sent Caroline…we would have gotten every beautiful detail in living color.
Have a great weekend whatever you are doing.
Remember…you are loved <3
