Happy Valentines Day!
Happy Valentines Day!!
This is such a great holiday because you can do as little or as much as you want to and its always appreciated.
You can celebrate with friends, family and even people you barely know but have some life connection with.
This past weekend we were super busy and I also managed to succumb to a vicious cold that kind of knocked me for a loop. Between all the things that were required, I spent time resting, resting and more resting.
So the big ideas I had planned for showing people some Valentine love are still dancing around in my head. No homemade greetings. Nothing fancy about the presentation of gifts purchased.
But it’s okay because the point is that Valentines Day is just a fun day to do whatever you can pull off that year. No big expectations. All just sweet ways to say you are loved.
I can’t think of a better gift of words to give you who showed up here today than the words of 1 Corinthians 13. Sure we have heard them a few times over, but they are so fitting when we want to talk about love.
The Message is a favorite of mine for this passage so here we go:
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our iincompletes will be canceled.
But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.
1 Corinthians 13: 7-10 and 13
Blessings friends.
Happy Valentines Day
You are loved <3
