Monday, rainy Monday <3
The first thing I need to do is apologize to any of you who get the Journey via the subscriptions service I use. For some reason it sent out an email yesterday even though I didn’t post. The agreement is you only get an email from me on the days that I post, so I will be doing some exploring to make sure there isn’t a new glitch that needs fixing in the mailing instructions.
Hopefully it was just a fluke and all is well. Also, hopefully, this one goes out as scheduled today <3
The joys of working with technology never disappoint…sigh.
Yesterday we saw The Sheep Detective movie. I had heard about it at knitting. Some of the ladies were going to go last Wednesday.
It was really a very good movie. It was funny and sweet and super sad in places. The setting was the English countryside so I was happy from the get-go.
I really didn’t know what to expect and if you haven’t heard about it, it’s a live action movie but the sheep must be digitally created as they are able to talk and act. Don’t ask me how this works, I can’t even figure out my email subscriptions.
The movie is recommended as family friendly and I would agree that there is nothing inappropriate in it. However; there is a murder that takes place (not gruesome, but still…murder) and some other deaths and situations among the sheep that are very sad.
During several parts, I whispered to Russ that this would be so difficult for Caroline to watch. Probably Joel would struggle a bit with the deep emotions. So if you have children to take, think carefully about how they are wired, their emotional age and plan to have some conversation afterwards.
Of course I saw several instances where there could be some beautiful discussions about faith and Jesus and there were some symbols that were so very powerful.
A part that I can share without ruining it for you involves the sheep and their ability to forget unpleasant things. One of the herd can not do this and so does the remembering for all of them. At one point he talks with another sheep about how sometimes sad things need to be remembered to honor the one who is no longer with you.
He then shares that while the hard things are painful, in choosing to remember, he also has all the good memories about the thing that has brought sorrow.
It definitely is worth the price of admission if you are looking for something to do this week.
Blessings <3
