The circle of life is sometimes kinda fun <3

Good morning friends

Here is a quick story that has been making me smile for a few weeks.

When Rachel was around preschool age, I would take her faithfully to the story hour at the library. She would often come out holding hands with another little girl who she referred to as her “good friend, Jenna.”

After several times of this, Jenna’s mom approached me about getting the girls together and thus was born a sweet friendship that moved into dance classes together and then drifted apart not because of heart issues but different schools, extracurriculars and such.

Over the years we have run into her parents and wave and ask how the kids are.

Recently I begrudgingly stopped at the Y and got my “Silver Sneakers” pass. It comes as a perk of being on medicare. I felt it was like waving the last white flag on my youth, but Russ pointed out when the weather gets bad I can at least walk there.

As I got used to the idea of being a Silver Sneaker person, and motivated by stubborn weight that remains fixed despite walking every day and cutting back on portions, I looked at the class schedules and noticed they still offer Pilates twice a week.

I screwed up my courage (I don’t like walking into class settings and trying to find a place to take up space).

On entering the room, someone waved to me. A friend of Russ’s from pickle ball recognized me and called me over. That was a nice surprise but as I rolled my mat out I saw someone else waving.

It was Jenna’s mom.

Yep.

Jenna’s mom and I are now Pilates buddies.

God is so good.

All the years my family moved around the country for my dad’s military service and then wandering retirement years, I dreamed of living in one place for my whole life.

God answered my prayer, we have lived our whole married life in this community except for a short stint of six months in Galesburg. It has taught me there are downsides to investing in the same place for the long haul, but overall it has been all I thought it would be.

And this right here is the icing on the cupcake.

With silver sprinkles.

God is so kind <3
