Thursday thoughts <3
We continue to experience a variety of weather patterns here on the prairie. Today looks to be like summer temperatures again. Rachel has been sending me clips from Yosemite this week and it is snowing there!!!
God surely blessed us with perfect weather for our two day visit. We had been warned spring can turn icy and full of snow there, what a blessing to have missed it!
Speaking of blessings…on Sunday our pastor preached about Heaven. He shared some of the erroneous ideas our culture has come up with, some things we can gather from the words of Jesus in various places but he ended with something that has powerfully affected me this week.
He said that maybe our best thoughts of Heaven are not what will be there. We can’t or don’t know so much about that. God has already said “no eye has seen, no ear has heard…”, so we can surmise that our brains are not ready to understand completely what it will be like.
However; in the book of Revelation, we are given a good idea of what will not be there. In Chapter 21, verse 4 we are told that Jesus will wipe away every tear from our eyes. There will be no more sickness, death, suffering, pain. In this world, we know very well what those things are like.
So we can know that the things we know here that cause any of those afflictions will be absent in Heaven. To further make his point, our pastor borrowed and idea from someone whose name I didn’t catch and used the alphabet to bring this closer to home.
I have been musing on that thought this week when I get sad, frustrated or am struggling with my own suffering or someone else’s.
To give you an example, off the top of my head this morning:
In Heaven, there will be no more…
Alzheimers
Back pain
Calcification in joints
Depression
Eczema
Faulty plumbing
Grief
Heartache
Injuries
Jet lag
Killing
Long waits
Missiles
Neuropathy
Oppression
Pests
Quarters needed at Aldi’s
Road rage
Spam
Taxes
Undernourished children
Vanity
Washington news
X-rays
Yelling
Zombi movies
Try it as you go about your day. When you run into something that wants to sideline you, remind yourself that it is only temporary. Then take it a step further and start the alphabet list of things that will not be in Heaven.
I guarantee it will build hope and joy in you and a strength to get through whatever you are facing.
Blessings friend.
God has you covered from A to Z <3
