Whoops…. <3

This will be quick because my day took a turn and I had an added interruption that messed up the plan. As I was putting dishes away, I stuck the cutting boards behind the knife rack. As I turned away, the weight shifted and the whole thing slid forward knocking a glass teapot onto our tile floor.

My heart shattered along with said teapot as it was a gift from our sweet neighbors and quite useful for brewing our tea. I had to sweep multiple times and hopefully captured every shard, but we will be wearing shoes for a few days just to make sure.

So my thought must be hurried to make publication time, but it is a simple one that I learned yesterday.

On Wednesdays I try to attend the noon prayer and then head to knitting, all held at church. Russ went ahead of me and so when I got there, I waved to the knitters and scurried to the sanctuary only to see it was dark and empty.

I went back to the knitters and asked if they knew where prayer was. A friend motioned in the direction of the new offices and said everyone had headed that way and hadn’t come back so it must be in there.

Back I went towards the sanctuary and the area where there are some conference rooms set up, but the doors were locked. I went around to the front office. The door was ajar but a sign posted on the door said the office was closed during prayer.

Since the door was ajar, I assumed the prayer time was indeed in the conference areas which can be accessed through the office. I proceeded through the empty rooms and saw that all was deserted in that portion of the church.

I came back out, defeated, and headed over to sit with knitters. By this time I had missed quite a large portion of it.

Eventually I saw people leaving and then I spied Russ. He headed over and I asked where they had been. He said they had been down another hall to the right of the sanctuary in the choir room.

He then asked if I didn’t see the sign.

Well, no, I didn’t see any sign. So we walked over to the sanctuary and there off to the side was a small stand with a sign that said Hello! In big yellow letters and then detailed the room change.

I had seen that sign off to the side, but stopped after the bright yellow greeting because that is what the Sunday morning greeters signs and shirts look like and I assumed it was a placard waiting for next weekend services.

I wasn’t looking for a note printed on a stand like I see on Sunday morning. I was looking for something taped to the door, like the note on the office.

The information and direction I needed was there, it just looked different than what I thought it would look like and so I ignored it.

Lesson learned.

I hope.

When seeking direction, explore all signs, even if they don’t look like the ones you would put up.

Peace out.

Have a great Thursday!
