Because we remember…

IMG_4354I was cleaning up the kitchen from breakfast when my neighbor called and asked if I had the news on.

I turned on Good Morning America just as the second plane flew into the other twin tower.

I sank to my knees in prayer and tears as I watched these huge buildings burst into flames; as newscasters fumbled to make sense of what was happening.

I called my husband and went to the schools to check on our children.

To see if they were scared and if they wanted to come home.

I think I needed them more than they needed me.

They were fine. Surrounded by friends and teachers.

So I came home. Shaken. Frightened. Shocked.

And I prayed.

I watched as more planes, somehow turned into weapons, were thwarted and diverted from their intended targets; as the towers imploded and sunk to their foundations carrying untold numbers of lives with them.

And America was reminded of heroes called First Responders.

Signs went up everywhere urging us to pray for America.

True to our American entrepreneur spirit there were t-shirts and coffee mugs and bumper stickers.

We got all emotional and militant and then….we moved on.

But lives were forever changed that day in large numbers.

And it was a wake-up call for all of us that our safety and our security and our peace are not, and never have been, found in a government, a group, a job, a 401K, an insurance policy, a deed, a contract or any of the other wonderful benefits that we have come to expect because we are ….Americans.

Where is your security? What do you count on to never change…to always remain the same…to outlast time and buildings and kingdoms and even heroes?

Or more importantly…

Who…

Who is your security?

Who is the One that will never leave you or forsake you?

Who is the One who died for you that you might live?

When all of this earth has passed away, He will remain…from everlasting to everlasting…King of kings….Lord of lords….Faithful and True <3

Let us, always,  remember <3
