May Book Review <3
Well, we had a grand time visiting the class reunion, friends who have moved down to that area plus a stop in Louisville on the way home. I will catch you up on Wednesday when I have over processed all the thoughts and feelings and have got it scaled down to a nice, tidy Five Randoms for your reading pleasure.
For today, let’s do the May Book Review and then it’s off to the summer races for Papi and Lola. We report for our summer hours tomorrow morning and have lots of laundry and yard work and such to catch up on today…so here we go:
I have mentioned before wanting to read the Narnia series by C. S. Lewis so I started in on that in May. I am almost through book 3, but not enough to add it fairly this month so will catch up with that (and hopefully finish the series) in June.
The first book in the series kind of threw me off because…I had already read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe a number of years ago. I didn’t recognize the names of the children but it didn’t take long to learn that this is the before story of the one I had already read.
I loved The Magician’s Nephew so much.
Since I had already read the second one, it was more of a refresher but I loved it as well.
The imagery is fun to read and like I have said before with fiction, the fact that it was written a long time ago and for children helps me with just enough details to be interesting without the tendency toward graphic depictions that I struggle not obsessively going over in my mind when I step away from the book.
This is the perfect series for a summer kick off reading for me and I am looking forward to being able to say, “Why yes. I have read the Chronicles of Narnia series.”
Will that opportunity arise short of me starting the conversation?
Probably not, but I will totally be ready if and when it does.
What about you?
Have you read all the Chronicles of Narnia series? Did you do it as a child? What classic series have you read that was your favorite? I seriously would love to know…
Hugs to you and I will see you on Wednesday <3
