Rear view views…..Commemoration Week 2015 <3

Sometimes God is most evident when He is behind me.

After the crisis is past…after the battle is won….after the peace is restored…

that’s when I look back and see His fingerprints all over the whole thing.

While I thought He was AWOL, He was, at just the right time…in front of, in the midst of and behind my circumstances. Always…always…right where I needed Him to be.

When the Israelites were nearing the Red Sea, being led by that pillar of fire by night and cloud by day,  they realized that the Egyptians were hot on the trail behind them and God had apparently led them right into a dead end.

But God…

                  And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind                     them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them. So it                           came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud                   and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other.           Exodus 14:19-21                                                                   

I am reminded that when I can not see God in front of me and I do not sense Him around me, He has not abandoned me. By faith, I continue to walk in the light that He has provided until my way becomes clear again.

I can look back at my past and remember His faithfulness at other times when I can not see Him in my present circumstances. And when I look back and recount all that He has done for me, I can know…He is closer than He appears.

God bless you today to remember His grace and mercy to you through the cross of Jesus Christ. If you have trouble remembering His works in the past, ask for the Holy Spirit to remind you and give thanks for all He has done.
