A slow day built in by our tour guide….

We got up and had a leisurely breakfast in Three Rivers.

Zach, Rachel, Joel and Caroline headed back to Sequoia to get the little two sworn in at that park as Junior Rangers (can I tell you…our parks are in good hands now).

We had Emmett and Graham so hit up a local trading post. The nicest girl chatted with us and the boys shopped for some snacks.

When the other car arrived back, there were some happy rangers there to get their fair share of goodies.

Zach had built a slow day in for us and I type that with a lump in my throat. He and Rachel were so kind to include us in their travels and make sure that we were not overwhelmed with long days of driving. It is a treasure that makes the journey richer to see their thoughtfulness towards us.

Rather than make a long drive to San Diego, Zach planned a stop midway in Temecula at a lovely hotel with a very nice pool for the kids.

Along the way, Rachel got to check off one of her bucket list items with a stop at a produce stand.

She took out another loan and purchased the freshest, most delicious strawberries ever…

She also found a great lunch stop!

The last existing Woolworth’s Lunch counter…

where Emmett discovered the #1 best hamburger on his Tour de Burger of California…

and also still refers to it as Woolsworth’s…which of course we all have adopted as its new name.

He insists he wants to UberEats an order from there. I hope he adds on some strawberries from the fruit stand.

We passed a lot of these…

Oil fields

and orange groves, which probably produce just as costly a product these days.

We loved hitting up the manager’s reception, ordering dinner to eat poolside and just having a relaxing day together.

Thank you Zach.

Next morning, it was all the omelets you could eat…

and onward to San Diego <3
