Leave the light on for me

Today is one of those Dorothy days. You know the ones. You leave the house early and about 12 hours later you are making your way through the streets of town thinking, “There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home.” Minus the red heels, of course, cause your dogs are barking…..=0)

Yes, each and every stop on the way is one I am looking forward to and planned for and wouldn’t miss, but I know that at the end of it, I will be tired.

On days like this, I am tempted to leave the porch lights on. Yes, it is daylight when I leave, but the house will be dark when we come home and a dark house is sad to me.

There is something welcoming about the porch and even a light or two on in some of the rooms.

We who have received the Light of the World are porch lights for one another on the journey. The Light of Jesus that you carry is not only a beacon to the lost, but it is comfort to me when I am tired and longing for Home.

Your light makes me feel welcome and gives me a sense that if I can just keep on keeping on, there will come a day when the trials and work have come to an end and we can all rest, finally, eternally, in the Presence of the Light of the Glory of God.

Some of you are weary, but your light is shining. Thank you. Thank you for drawing strength from the Lord and thank you for staying faithful.

Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Bless you, little porch light, bless you <3
