“Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” NKJV Luke 2:10-11
Or from The Message
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David’s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master”
A Savior. One who saves from danger. From harm. From failure. One who delivers someone out of something awful and horrible. Like trouble and sin and sickness and death.
Messiah. The Christ. The one promised to deliver Israel. The One who has authority and ability and willingness to restore what God had ordained. The One we worship and adore.
Lord. Master. The One over us. The One we obey. The One who is above us. The One we bow to. The One we SERVE.
It’s not one or the other. It’s AND.
He is my Savior. And in that word: He IS Christ and He IS Master.
I can’t wave palm branches and sing Hosanna and then waltz off and do what I want with my life. He is Lord over my days and His kingdom is my life. His salvation is offered to the world, the whole world. It is meant for everybody.
But it is only received by those who call Him; Jesus Christ the Lord
Is He, today, my Messiah AND Master?
