Part 1….Yosemite <3

The very first thing I need to do is apologize for so many confusing typos yesterday. I had trouble following the first paragraph and I wrote it…so I am going back and fixing that…sigh.

Second thing is, we did a lot and saw a lot and I have 700 plus photos of my own plus all the ones everyone else took…so as I sort through them I am trying to pull five a day and just share some of the fun.

After a good night’s rest and breakfast in Fresno, we loaded up and headed to Yosemite. Our plan was to stay in Oakhurst two nights – this is a town 36 miles from Yosemite. Since we wanted to visit the park two days, Zach found a fun location for us to have near the entrance.

We got to drive through this little burg on our way to the park entrance. There was a short line to get in and then a long winding road up the mountains to get to the heart of the park.

There were stops along the way that involved a lot of this…

because there was a lot of this…

Finally we got to the Tunnel which leads into the spectacular view of Yosemite you are most likely familiar with. Since we had two cars, we split the kids up in various configurations each day. Highly recommend this as there was a lot of driving on long, windy roads and it helped divert too much car time with any one combo.

We had Emmett and Graham for the Tunnel experience and I snapped this photo of Emmett videoing as we approached the light at the end of said tunnel.

It was so tender to see all of these things through the eyes of our children and grandchildren as well as our own awe at God’s creation.

While the Grand Canyon took our breath away as we looked down, this area is all about looking up. We didn’t tire of seeing the waterfalls and identifying the various rock formations that make up this park.

And then there were the little things God left to delight us as we watched our footing on trails…

Tomorrow I will share some information about the park, our second day, where we stayed and whatever else comes to mind…
